Felt Tassel Ornament DIY

I’ll actually be showing you 2 versions of this easy DIY ornament options today. Read all the way through for a BONUS DIY! 😁

The ornament idea came to me as I was shopping at Hobby Lobby and stumbled upon this cute geo print felt which was only 77 cents and Half off! You can cut this felt to any shape you want by tracing an ornament you already own and cutting it out. You could also print a shape from google and trace that. I chose a Christmas tree since I had this wood ornament already from the Target Dollar Spot.

Easy version supplies- felt, hooks, something to trace your shape, scissors, and marker.
Step 1: Trace and cut it out!
I was about to make 6 from one sheet by aligning the tree edges together.

If you don’t want to go the extra step, you can simply poke a hole in the felt and add an ornament hook and you are done! 🎄 If you want to add tassels, continue reading!

Supplies for the beaded tassels: string(two sizes) & wood beads(two sizes).
Here’s a visual on how I made the tassels.

Rope and string are from Hobby Lobby. You could also use twine! I cut a piece about 11 inches long from the thicker rope. Honestly, length doesn’t matter because you will trim your tassel ends anyway. Fold the thick rope you just cut and tie it with the thin rope that you will hang the ornament with. Then wrap a separate piece of the thin rope around the thick rope and tie it in a knot. You will cut those ends off and you can even hot glue the tiny end down if you want.

I didn’t take a picture of the next step but I poked a hole in the top of the tree shape and threaded the string through the hole. Add two beads and tie a knot above the beads and then knot your two string ends together. That’s it! All done! 🎄

Love the pop of pattern this adds to my tree.

Bonus DIY snow flake ornaments below!

Got these foam ❄️ from Hobby Lobby- $2 for 3.

Just ad ornament hooks to these and hang them and they actually look really awesome and you can’t even tell they are styrofoam. You could also spray paint these or add glitter! ❄️
