No need to wire in sconces when you have battery powered puck lights and glue! Everyone knows this trick right? It’s pretty simple but creates a big statement. I’ll link everything on my LTK and HERE. Be sure to subscribe while you’re here!
First thing I did was paint my Posts black with paint by Better Homes & Gardens in the shade Obsidian. I used satin and the sheen is perfect and the color is exactly what I wanted. I may even paint the back wall of my kitchen to match. 😍
I’ll put a before pic below so you can see what they looked like when they were boring gray. 🤣
Moving on, let’s talk about supplies you’ll need for the sconce project. Any sconce or light fixture(mine are by BH&G), battery powered puck lights, Glue(I used E6000 because that’s what I had on hand), these little screw in pipe things I found at my local hardware store(I’ll include a pic), or you can even just attach the light into the sconce with a command strip. That actually failed me so I went this route. My lights were too heavy and kept falling out of the sconce. 🤣
The Sconce comes Bronze but honestly looks black in person. Even against black paint. I decided to spray paint my sconces metallic gold so that they’d pop against my newly painted posts. I love the modern vibe it gave them.
If you don’t plan on actually wiring these in ever then I recommend just cutting off all the wires. Then screw on the metal hanging plate it comes with. I simply hammer a nail into the wall at an upward angle so I can just hang my sconce on the 1 nail through that little hole in the middle of the metal plate. You could also use command strips if you want to avoid holes.
Then just screw in the puck light like you would a bulb and poof! You’re done. I recommend using lights that come with a remote so you can control them without touching your light but it’s not mandatory. These are ones I had already and they are terrible so I’ll link another option with better reviews and a remote.
I think these really pop on each side of our kitchen! let’s just hope my husband doesn’t hit his head on them when he walks by. 🤣
They aren’t super bright but look great for decor. Light I said previously, I’m sure there are better lights that would be even brighter than mine.

Special thanks to Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart for sponsoring this project! BH&G is my favorite brand and I’m honored to share my budget friendly projects with you each month.
Amber, I was skeptical about the black paint, but I love it. And I love those sconces painted gold. I think you just helped me figure out some lighting for above my headboard where there are no outlets. P.S. I love how you end the post with a picture of Kiwi.
Aw thank you! I love the pop of color.
I think your back kitchen wall would look good with the black paint you painted your columns in.
I think so too!!! I’m a little nervous. 😆
