Wife on a Dime

Moody Bathroom Paint Project

I’ve been craving some color in my house for a while now. Basically my entire house is neutrals which I’ve had for about two years and I’m just bored with it. Don’t get me wrong, most of the neutral stuff is staying but I want to just add a few pops of color here and there ya know?

I wanted to start small by doing an accent wall in my hall bath because A. it would be a quick project and B. If I hated it, I could easily paint it another color.

Better Homes & Gardens just released a new paint line and I think they read my mind. I saw the color Emerald Isle and I liked how moody and colorful it was. I did satin because the vanity light is so bright and I didn’t want it to be too glossy. They suggest doing semi gloss for baths and kitchens so just keep that in mind.

Coat one made me nervous because it really looked bright and it wasn’t until after the second coat that I loved it. I never use painters tape because I’m actually worse at get the tape in a straight line anyway. I bought one of those paint kits from Walmart that included a brush to paint the edges with. It also came with a handle extension for reaching back in these shelves. I basically still had to perform acrobatics to reach the top corner.

Pro tip: use a plastic bag over your paint tray so you can just slip it off and throw it away and reuse the tray. Make sure you put the printed side of the bag under the tray otherwise the color will get in your paint.

I feel like this would be beautiful in a bedroom or office too. I have over half a can left so who knows what will happen. 😂 I’m kinda obsessed with this color now that I took a leap of faith.

Looks extra moody with the lights off. Imagine taking a relaxing bundle bath in here. 🙌🏼

I found so gorgeous BH&G bath and hand towels that are very similar in color. It’s not an exact match but I feel like they feed off one another. I also love that you get a sneak peek of the color in the mirror.

I’ll link all of the BH&G items I used in this space as well as some other paint colors I love from the new line!

Tap the photo below to shop or click here . I used a mix of things I already had and new Walmart items to give it a boho vibe. These are the smaller set of two baskets which are perfect for storing towels and toilet paper. 2 for $22.
